GSCE
In History, you’ll study dramatic events and periods that shaped the world we live in. Topics include Nazi Germany, conflict in Northern Ireland, and the Cold War. You’ll learn how to analyse sources, form arguments, and think critically about the past. The course is assessed entirely by examination — no coursework.
A Level
A Level History gives you the opportunity to study major themes in British, Irish and European history. At AS, you’ll examine the power and influence of Louis XIV of France and his role in reshaping 17th-century Europe. At A2, you’ll focus on key constitutional and political changes in England between 1625–1714 and the complex history of Ireland from 1685–1714, including the Battle of the Boyne and the Siege of Derry.
Careers
The course develops skills in critical reading, analysis, source interpretation and essay writing — essential for careers in law, politics, journalism, civil service and academia.
