A Level – English Literature
English Literature is the study of how writers capture human experience through powerful stories that have shaped our world. You’ll engage with poetry, prose and drama, from Chaucer and Shakespeare to Seamus Heaney and contemporary novelists. This course sharpens your ability to analyse language closely, encouraging you to read critically and imaginatively. By exploring the historical and cultural contexts in which texts were written, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of literature’s impact across time.
Careers
The course also fosters independent thinking and effective communication, preparing you for further study or diverse career paths including law, journalism, education or any field where language and ideas matter.
