On Saturday 30th January Queen’s University, Belfast hosted the Northern Ireland Physics and Chemistry heats of the Irish Senior Science Olympiad. Our six candidates from Year 14 joined with almost two hundred others, from across the province, for two multiple choice papers sat in the Whitla Hall.
After lunch the students had opportunity to tour the facilities of the Chemistry and Physics departments at QUB, as well as attend short talks and demonstrations ranging from telescopes to chemical engineering.
Congratulations to David Nesbitt who gained one of the four Silver Awards in Physics. Our students who entered were Victoria McDowell, David Evans, Scott Goodrich, Matthew McCall, Jack Neeson and David Nesbitt.
