The RSB 6 Nations Trophy was in school today, the centre piece of the Ulster Bank organised 6 Nations Trophy Tour 2010.
Also in attendance was a trio of high calibre rugby heroes:
Dr. Syd Millar CBE – a former Ballymena Academy pupil who won 37 caps for Ireland and played 9 test matches for the Lions. He has been the International Rugby Board Chairman and is a recipient of the much lauded Legion D’Honneur;
David Humphreys MBE – another famous former pupil of the school. David won 72 caps for Ireland and captained Ulster to European Cup glory in 1999. He is currently Ulster Rugby’s Operations Director;
Malcolm O’Kelly – Ireland’s most capped player with 92 caps and part of the Leinster squad. Malcolm, who stands at 6 foot 8 inches tall, has featured in Irish sides since his debut against the All Blacks in November 1997.
The event, held in the W.H. Assembly Hall, was hosted by BBC Northern Ireland’s Jackie Fullerton, who briefly interviewed the guests before conducted a question and answer session with questions coming from the audience of nearly 500 rugby and hockey players drawn from across the school.
