Generation Innovation, Invent 2017

On Wednesday, 13th September, 15 Year 11 pupils represented Ballymena Academy at the Generation Innovation, Invent 2017 event, which was held at the Ulster University Belfast.

The aim for the day was to create the next generation of innovators who are curious, creative problem solvers, collaborators and excellent communicators; enabling them to achieve their potential in an ever-changing world.

The pupils listened to eight Invent finalists who pitched their product, before pupils got to vote for the winner.  All eight finalists displayed unique diverse products and all demonstrating innovative ideas.

Following lunch the pupils engaged in various tasks in 4 workshops; Entrepreneurship, Product Design, Interactive Design and 21st century skills-innovation in real life.

Katherine Stronge rounded off our day as she was then given the honour of presenting the winner of the Pupils Choice Award to "EVY" a smart bag that helps you to remember and track all your items.
We wish "EVY" the best of luck of the grand final which is due to be held at the Waterfront Hall in October.

Thanks to Ulster University, Diane Morrow and her team from Connect and Generation Innovation, for organising and hosting us at this event.
