Uneven Age Group Cross Country Championships

On Sunday, 12th November, Sophie McCluney (Year 10), Owen Johnston (Year 10), and Katie Agnew (Year 12), travelled to Finn Valley Athletics Club, Co. Donegal to represent Ballymena and Antrim Athletics Club at the NI and Ulster uneven age group cross country championships. Both Sophie and Owen competed at U15 level. Sophie had a fantastic race and was rewarded with 9th position. She was also 4th scorer for the winning Co. Antrim team. Owen had a strong run in a very competitive 3500m race and finished a creditable 31st.

In the U17 girls' 4000m race Katie had a great run and finished in 2nd position. Both girls will now represent their Club, County and Ulster at the All Ireland Uneven Age group cross country championships in Waterford next month.

Two weeks ago, Katie competed in the NI and Ulster even age group cross country championships at Kilbroney, Co. Down. She finished 5th in the U16 race and was 4th scorer for the winning Co. Antrim team. This qualifies Katie to compete at the All Ireland even age group championships at the National Sports Campus, Abbotstown, Dublin at the end of November.
